Pangasinan officials join other 25,000 attendees to the Smart City Expo World Congress

BAGUIO CITY (November 1, 2024) -- Pangasinan officials are joining other 25,000 global attendees, both from the public and private sectors, for the November 5-7, 2024 Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

 

Delegates from Pangasinan are set on a 10-day, November 2-10, official working visit

with the invitation of Philippine Consulate to Spain, Consul General Maria Theresa SM. Lazaro.

 

The Smart City is the world’s biggest and most influential event for cities and urban innovation, serving as a path to discover the latest technologies and enjoy premier networking with the leaders in government and business from around the world.

 

The annual congress brings together government leaders, C-level executives, global experts, and visionaries to move cities towards a better future through sharing knowledge and best practices aimed at empowering cities to tackle the current critical challenges, the invitation letter addressed to Pangasinan Provincial Board secretary Atty. Verna T. Nava-Perez and other provincial officials.

 

Delegates from Pangasinan are expected to have a full-packed work schedule, which includes a courtesy call with Consul General Lazaro, on November 4; a Keynote Session: Majora Carter Infrastructure & Building: How Do Urban Resilience and Talent Retention Connect on November 5; Energy & Environment Mobility Dialogue: Elevating Urban Living: Engaging Communities and Integrating Services for a Net Positive Smart City on November 6; Keynote Session: Stephanie Hare Enabling Technology on November 7; and Benchmarking Tour in Barcelona City on November 8.

 

According to Dhobie de Guzman, chief of the Pangasinan Information and Media Relations Office (PIMRO), activities from November 4-8 are part of the many sessions that participants will engage that are vital in achieving gains for the province towards socio-economic opportunities, “apart from acquiring learnings that they can personally apply in connection with their respective duties and responsibilities in the provincial government.”

 

The foreign travel, Governor Ramon Guico III said, ‘will be an avenue for Pangasinan for creating ties with more than 130 participating countries’, stressing that, “the event activities and delegation are aligned and significant to Pangasinan’s vision and mission.
