BAGUIO CITY (November 1, 2024) -- Baguio City officials are relishing at the plum that placed the city as the "5th Cleanest Cities with the lowest pollution level in Southeast Asia" based on the 2024 Mid-Year Numbeo Pollution Index.

The Sangunniang Panlungsod, in a resolution, attributed the fete to the tremendous efforts of the City General Services Office (GSO), City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) and the entire Baguio citizenry for the exemplary distinction.

The SP claimed that Numbeo uses users’ reviews to rank cities where it stated to be the world’s largest database of user contributed data about cities and countries worldwide.

Moreover, it provides a platform to view, share, and compare information about pollution, cleanliness, and purity worldwide.

The Numbeo pollution index is a comprehensive database that assesses pollution levels in urban areas based on various factors, including air quality, water pollution and waste management.

The 2024 Numbeo Mid-Year Pollution Index report released the ranking of cities in Southeast Asia in terms of pollution level from cleanest to most polluted where Baguio City with a pollution level of 72.9 ranked 5th of the top 16 cleanest cities in the region with the lowest pollution index. Singapore topped the list with a pollution index of 32.5.

The SP further claimed, the distinction bestowed on the city manifests the commitment of the local government to sustain a nourishing environment conducive to life and health of its constituents. The collaborative effort between the city, the concerned offices such as the GSO and CEPMO and the entire citizenry.

The result of the ranking magnifies the unwavering commitment of the city to environment preservation and protection, urban sustainability and public health, the SP cited.

Tired of the same names, the same faces, the same families. Tired of watching opportunity slip away as public service is reduced to a personal brand.
