The Jade Gallery opens in Baguio as a new space for the arts

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines: A new art space at Hotel Supreme is putting the spotlight on Baguio’s creative community while opening its doors to artists from beyond the city, giving the public more opportunities to experience a diverse range of artistic works.

The Jade Gallery opened to the public on August 28, 2026, with its inaugural exhibition, First Light, featuring five Baguio artists: Julian Julmir Almirol, Edmund Andrada, Danielle Florendo, Robert Joaquin and Art Lozano.

The gallery was established by Hotel Supreme as part of its continuing commitment to the Baguio community, creating a dedicated space that supports artists and brings their work closer to residents and visitors.

For Hotel Supreme, the initiative is also a way of giving back to the city it has long called home, while highlighting a side of Baguio that has always been integral to its identity.

Baguio has nurtured generations of artists working across different disciplines, and The Jade Gallery aims to provide another space where that creativity can be presented alongside works and perspectives from artists outside the city.

“The idea is really to show people how good our artists are and how much creativity there is to discover,” said Chino Chow, curator of The Jade Gallery. “There is so much talent here and elsewhere, and we want to provide a space where people can encounter these works, spend time with them and better appreciate what artists are creating.”

The response from the arts community has been strong since plans for the gallery became known.

“We’re very happy that artists have connected with us and expressed their interest in exhibiting their work,” said Mark Jefferson C. Ng, General Manager of Hotel Supreme. “Our exhibition calendar is already booked until March 2027, which is very encouraging for a gallery that has only just opened.”

The early interest has given Hotel Supreme confidence that the gallery can develop into a continuing platform for artists rather than serve simply as a temporary addition to the property.

Through a rotating program of exhibitions, The Jade Gallery plans to introduce audiences to different artists, styles and perspectives, providing space for both established and emerging creative voices from Baguio and beyond.

Its opening also reflects Hotel Supreme’s effort to use its spaces and resources in ways that contribute to the wider community.

Rather than viewing the gallery primarily as a commercial undertaking, Hotel Supreme sees it as a contribution to Baguio’s cultural life, providing artists with greater visibility while giving residents and visitors another way to engage with art.

First Light serves as the starting point for that effort. By bringing together Almirol, Andrada, Florendo, Joaquin and Lozano for its inaugural exhibition, The Jade Gallery hopes to offer a glimpse of the depth of artistic talent found in the city while setting the direction for a broader and more diverse program of exhibitions to follow.

For Peter L. Ng, Hotel Supreme CEO & President, the gallery is ultimately about creating another place where artistic talent can be recognized and appreciated.
