Rebel arms cache seized in Buguey, Cagayan

BAGUIO CITY (March 12, 2025) -- Policemen seized a rebel arms cache at sitio Birao, barangay Villa Cielo in Buguey town in Cagayan Tuesday.

 

Cagayan Valley police said the arms cache was placed inside a green water jug with the following: an M79 grenade launcher; three pieces of commercial cup blasting caps; five rounds of 40mm HEDP cartridges; one MK2 fragmentation hand grenade; an improvised explosive device (IED) with explosive charge; 37 rounds of 7.62mm ball cartridges; two pieces of 5.56mm ball cartridges; nine pieces of 40mm cartridges; a 12-volt motorcycle battery; nine pieces of 40mm shell cartridges; five meters of solid wire; and three pieces of 5.56mm magazines.

 

According to Cagayan Valley police director Brig. Gen. Antonio P. Marallag Jr., a certain “Ka Rani”, a former vice-commanding officer of the CPP-NP East Front Committee of the Cagayan province rebel committee under the Komite Rehiyon Cagayan Valley (KRCV) spilled the information to authorities prompting them to immediately head to the site where the rebel war materiel were discovered.
