GCash customer support will always be free: Beware of fake Social Media Support and unauthorized "Fixers" schemes

GCash reminds its users that legitimate customer assistance is always 100% free. To protect users from phishing and fraudulent schemes, account holders should only report issues only through the official in-app Help Center and official web portal (help.gcash.com). GCash emphasizes that official GCash Customer Service representatives will never demand payments, fees, or sensitive account information to resolve customer inquiries. Moreover, GCash does not engage with any third-party account assistance services, warning users that all social media pages offering such services for a fee are fraudulent.

Fraudsters have increasingly taken to social media, advertising themselves as third-party services capable of "unblocking" suspended accounts, lifting wallet limits, or transferring funds or accounts for a fee. These are unauthorized account "restoration" schemes and fake customer support pages operating on social media.

Fake Social Media Help is Outright Phishing

These fraudulent pages often pose as "GCash Help Center," monitoring public posts and sliding into users’ Direct Messages (DMs) to offer fake support. These unauthorized individuals will request for the user’s personal details and charge fees merely to submit standard support tickets using the victim's personal details. In dire cases, scammers use the interaction to steal the users’ funds stored in the app. GCash advises users to never engage with and pay anyone promising to “fix” your account. Anyone reaching out via social media DMs offering customer support or help is attempting to phish user credentials.

GCash strongly reiterates that it has NO customer support pages, public groups, or live chat agents on Facebook and other social media platforms. All customer concerns should only be coursed through official GCash Help channels.

Handing over personal information, valid IDs, or credentials to these fake pages gives scammers complete access to hack and control GCash wallets and bank accounts. Furthermore, scammers use stolen personal IDs to set up illegal mule accounts. Falling for this scam doesn't just mean losing money—it can expose victims to severe legal repercussions and implicate them in cybercrime investigations.

Scammers also use deceptive email addresses, such as gcashcareassistant@gmail.com, to mimic official support. Legitimate GCash customer support will never use public domains like @gmail.com or @yahoo.com.

To stay safe, GCash reminds users that:

1. GCash will never ask for your One-Time Password (OTP) or MPIN. If you have shared your MPIN or OTP, please change it right away via your GCash App: Go to Profile > Security Center > Change MPIN

2. GCash will never slide into your social media DM (direct message) to resolve an issue or request personal documents. This is done securely via support@gcash.com when you have an active inquiry ticket filed in-app.

3. GCash will never charge a fee to resolve a customer service request.
