UP-borne sorority Pi Sigma Delta marks 50 years

BAGUIO CITY (January 15, 2025) -- The Pi Sigma Delta Sorority will mark its 50th anniversary with a homecoming celebration on January 25, 5pm at the UP Diliman Bahay ng Alumni.

The theme of the sorority’s golden anniversary is “Pagpupugay sa limampung taong paglilingkod at maprisipyong pagharap sa hamon ng kinabukasan (Upholding 50 years of service and principled dealing with challenges of the future.)

To commemorate this milestone, Pi Sigma Delta is organizing “50 Days of Giving”, a string of projects in service of the people.

This January, the line-up of projects includes a 5-kilometer Deltan Fun Run 2025 which will be held at the UP Academic Oval on January 19, proceeds from which will benefit communities supported by the Bread of Salt -Multiplied Initiative. Gunstart will be at 5am.

On January 26 at 3 pm, Pi Sigma Delta will also host “Fashion for a Cause” for women and their families in partner-communities in Tondo, Manila.  Pre-loved office clothes and other items will be sold at affordable prices.

All proceeds will be plowed back to the communities for livelihood projects, including “Kuha sa Tingi,” a sachet avoidance refilling projects for low-income communities.

Founded on January 26, 1975 at the University of the Philippines-Diliman, the twin principles of Pi Sigma Delta are: to be the Paragon of Self-Development and Paglingkuran ang Sambayanan nang may Dangal (Serve the people with dignity).
