TIEZA nods funding Banguet capital’s Strawberry Farm’s upkeep

La Trinidad, Benguet (December 13, 2024) -- La Trinidad, Benguet has high hopes that the town’s famous tourist destination – the Strawberry Fields-- will draw more visitors after its upkeep with the help of the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) is completed.

 

Committee on Tourism of the La Trinidad Sangguniang Bayan head Councilor Belmer Elis said TIEZA had already given a positive response to their request for funding for the improvement of the Benguet State University (BSU) Strawberry Farm in Betag, La Trinidad.

 

According to the councilor, they were notified that the management of TIEZA, led by Chief Operation Officer (CEO) Mark Lapid, is interested and ready to fund the project with P100 million.

 

Elis said that the fund will be processed once that the local government unit of La Trinidad and the management of BSU will enter into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).   He though added the project has to be approved and endorsed by the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA).

 

The Strawberry Farm being operated by BSU is flocked by local and foreign tourists for the strawberry produce, especially the personal experience of harvesting ripe strawberries at the vast farms. 

 

The strawberry farm also offer strawberry by-products, local delicacies, among others.

 

Elis stressed that it is important to improve La Trinidad tourist destinations to boost its tourism industry.
