Three dead, one hurt as pick-up truck plunges into 100-meter Benguet ravine

BAGUIO CITY (January 21, 2025) -- Three died while another one is being treated at the hospital after after a wayward pick-up truck they were riding on plunged into a ravine in sitio Camanggaan, First Gate, Barangay Ucab, Itogon town in Benguet 6:45 Monday morning.

 

The Itogon police identified the fatalities as Amayag Oplas, 29, driver; Ruvelyn Agapinan; and 27,Charles Oplas, 21, Luisito David Bacoco, 14, is being treated at a hospital.

 

All residents of Luneta, Antamok, Barangay Loacan, Itogon, the four aboard the pick-up truck were travelling along the Baguio-Ucab Road in Itogon town when they rammed into a concrete barrier prompting the driver -- Amayag Oplas – to lose control of the vehicle and dived into a 100-meter ravine.

 

Oplas was declared dead-on-the spot while the three others were rushed to the hospital.
