Thieves rob then kill Kalinga gold trader

BAGUIO CITY (October 29, 2024)— Still unidentified thieves robbed then killed a Kalinga gold trader right inside his shop at Purok 6, Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga’s capital Tuesday morning.

The victim — John Cabbigat, now living at Purok 5, Bulanao, Tabuk City, but a native of Ifugao Province— was shot after the thieves hauled out his valuables.

The Kalinga police said, the victim’s told them two men entered the shop, while another man stayed at the door serving as lookout.

After shooting the gold trader, police added that the thieves also tried to shoot his brother, but the gun malfunctioned.

The brother managed to flee and sought help.

The victim was rushed to the hospital but unluckily did not make it.

The police has launched a hot pursuit operation against suspects, and appealed for tips from neighbors and others who might have seen them.

Authorities though did not provide details on what items were carted away by the thieves, neither the sum of cash or gold, if any, that are missing.

Time to Pass the Torch: Why Political Comebacks Are Not the Answer

Tired of the same names, the same faces, the same families. Tired of watching opportunity slip away as public service is reduced to a personal brand.
