Retired Engineer, ex-OFW killed in Abra

BAGUIO CITY (December 4, 2024) -- A retired Engineer and a former Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) died from gunshot wounds in Bangued, Abra’s capital 6:20 Tuesday evening, the latest among a string of gun-related violence in Abra of late.

Emanuel "Nolie" Bacarra Manglibo, 62, on board a motorcycle was about to enter his house at

Barangay Calaba, Bangued, when a still unidentified gunman shot him twice hitting his right shoulder and at the back of his head.

The gunman, police investigators later found out, fled towards the Bangued town proper.

Responding policemen rushed the victim at the Seares Memorial Hospital but the retired Engineer did not make it.

A manhunt operation was launched province-wide, police vowed, while digging deeper what prompted the killing.

La Paz town Mayor JB Bernos, also the national president of the League of Municipalities (LMP), worried on the continuing string of violence in the province called on law enforcement authorities to institute measures to plug gun-related violence in his home province. “This senseless killings has to stop,” he stressed.
