Pangasinenses expect more environmental effort vs climate change impact

BAGUIO CITY (March 11, 2025) -- Pangasinan Governor Ramon Guico III commits officials, provincial government departments and Pangasinenses they will continue and further strengthen collective effort in nurturing the environment as their contribution in the global bid to combat the negative impacts of climate change.

 

Expressing his gratefulness to the Climate Change Commission (CCC) for recognizing Pangasinan’s consistent environmental campaign, Guico III said the plum serves “as a stronger motivation for them to continue the collaborative work of all the local government units (LGUs) and residents of Pangasinan towards climate change adaptation, environmental protection, and socio-economic sustainability.”

 

The governor noted that Pangasinan’s climate adaptation and mitigation efforts will not only benefit the province but will also have positive impact for the rest of Luzon given the interconnectedness of the ecosystem.

 

In February 2023, the Guico III administration launched the “Green Canopy Program” as a vivid manifestation of Pangasinan’s contribution to the global fight against the negative impacts of climate change. It is also the flagship environmental rehabilitation project of his administration.

 

In a recent visit of CCC in Pangasinan, it lauded the initiatives of the Provincial government on climate action, its plans and applications, likewise its efforts on disaster preparedness and environmental sustainability.

 

The agency praised the province’s commitment to climate change adaptation and mitigation (CCAM).
