Pangasinan provincial government, two cities, 28 towns feted with “Seal of Good Governance”

BAGUIO CITY (November 14, 2024) – Pangasinan soared as one of the best performing local governments in the country when it comes to efficiency.

 

The Pangasinan provincial government and the province's two cities -- Alaminos and San Carlos—were also among the 96 cities awarded with the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) awards while its 28 towns -- Alcala, Anda, Asingan, Balungao, Bani, Basista, Bayambang, Bolinao, Bugallon, Infanta, Labrador, Libgayen, Malasiqui, Manaoag, Mangatarem, Mapandan, Pozzorubio, Rosales, San Fabian, San Manuel, San Nicolas, San Quintin, Sta Barbara, Sto. Tomas, Sison, Tayug, Urbiztondo and Villasis



were included in the 566 national awardees of the 2024 SGLG.

 

Pangasinan Governor Ramon Guico III beamed, “(this) is because of the collective effort of the people and the officials and government employees of the province.”

 

Pangasinan has four cities and 44 towns.

 

SGLG is an annual recognition of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) of local government units (LGUs) who are going with the department's pledge of promoting inclusive and people-centric reforms. The SGLG awards is now in its 10 years as DILG lead the said awards with the theme "Isang Dekada ng Pagkilala sa Tapat at Mahusay na Pamamahala". The scope of the award covers all LGUs of 82 provinces, 148 cities and 1, 486 municipalities of the country.

 

Gov. Guico III thanked the Pangasinenses or people of the Pangasinan, the employees of the Provincial Government under their respective departments, Provincial Administrator Melicio Patague III, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and Pangasinan Vice-Governor Mark Ronald Lambino for their excellence.  He also hailed the dedication of the heads of the municipal LGUs for performing their mandates very well.

 

"We all did this together. Indeed, competence in professional work and commitment in public service enrich the defining character of our Team Pangasinan! And with your unfailing support, our journey continues, improving lives and transforming communities in the whole province," Guico III reiterated.

 

The validation of LGUs for the SGLG award started in September 2024, and awarding is usually done at the end of every year.
