PAGCOR brings medicines in Ilocos Norte

BAGUIO CITY (December 2, 2024) --  President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., through the gaming regulator Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), in partnership with the Ilocos Norte provincial government conducted a two-day government service caravan at the Ilocos Norte Centennial Arena over the weekend.

The “Bawat Buhay Mahalaga (BBM) Serbisyo Caravan” is an initiative of PBBM through PAGCOR to bring government services, particularly medical offerings closer to communities.

Gov. Mathew Marcos Manotoc said, "We are very honored to have ito pong [BBM] Serbiyo Caravan, and we hope for a stronger and closer partnership and friendship with PAGCOR.” In my almost five and a half years bilang gobernador, I think this is our first PAGCOR event na ganito kalaki kaya we are very thankful," he added.

Ramon Stephen Villaflor, head of PAGCOR’s Corporate Social Responsibility Group, remarked, "PAGCOR brought the Bawat Buhay Mahalaga Serbisyo Caravan to Ilocos Norte as part of our mission to make essential services accessible to communities across the country."

PAGCOR handed out P50-million worth of assistance, distributed bicycles for Barangay Bike Patrols, Go Bag First Aid Emergency Kits, assorted medicines, dental supplies, medical-related and assistive devices, wheelchairs, walking canes, cot beds, reading glasses, glucose, cholesterol and uric acid monitoring devices, livelihood packages, and educational grants.

PAGCOR said it is scheduled to hand over two units of 2D echo ultrasound machines and six units of portable ventilators to Ilocos Norte provincial government-managed hospitals.

Over 3,000 Ilokanos benefited from free medical consultations and services, medicines, food packs, and other essential community assistance.

This is the second “BBM Serbisyo Caravan” in the country following its inaugural caravan in Bulacan in 2023.

Time to Pass the Torch: Why Political Comebacks Are Not the Answer
By Malou Laxamana Pascual May 5, 2025
As the May 12 election nears, a quiet but growing movement is making itself heard in Baguio City. It does not come from the traditional campaign stage or the usual political dynasties. It is not funded by machinery or driven by name recall. It comes from the ground, from the young, and from those who are tired of the cycle. Tired of the same names, the same faces, the same families. Tired of watching opportunity slip away as public service is reduced to a personal brand.
