P2.2M cannabis in brick form seized in Kalinga

BAGUIO CITY (February 14, 2025) --  At least 19 bricks of dried marijuana leaves that weighed 19 kilograms and valued at P2,280,000.00 were seized from a 27 year old drug trader from barangay Agbannawag, Tabuk City, Kalinga Thursday in a sting operation by PDEA-Nueva Vizcaya agents and also joined in by agents from the PDEA-Kalinga. 


The suspect, whose identity was still kept under wraps by authorities, sold the marijuana bricks to an undercover government anti-narcotics agents said PDEA-Cordillera director Derrick Carreon.


The PDEA official added that the marijuana bricks were tucked by the drug trader inside a chute sack and brought it right under the nose of the undercover agent, whose colleagues from the PDEA immediately closed in for the arrest. 


Carreon said the drug trader is now facing before the Kalinga provincial prosecutor’s office a violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
