Life-changing bridge opens to Abrenians

BAGUIO CITY-- Villagers of Bucay, Abra turned their backs to using "balsa" or makeshift raft to bring their vehicles, goods and other essentials accross the river as the Salnec-Madalipay-Dugong Bridge was already openned after barely just two years of construction.

Abra Lone District Congresswoman Menchie Bernos together with Bucay Mayor Judor Zales, League of Mayors in the Philippines National President JB Bernos and former Abra Governor Eustaquio Bersamin have opened the newly-built bridge that started in the later part of 2022.

The bridge is among the ten bridges initiated by LMP President Bernos for Abra. He said that the bridge will ease the burden of transportation not only for the residents of southern riverside of Bucay but most importantly travellers coming from farway upland towns of Sallapadan, Bucloc and Daguioman.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) led by its former Chairman Felix Reyes turned over 13 Patient Transport Vehicles (PTV) or ambulances to Abra. The said vehicles were received by Rep. Bernos.

The ambulances will be distributed to the municipalities of Bucloc, Daguioman, Lacub, Dolores, Sal-lapadan, Lagayan, Malibcong, San Isidro, San Quentin, Tineg, Langiden, Pilar and Tubo. One of the beneficciary municipalities, Sal-lapadan Mayor Fernando Semanero Jr. said that the PTV is a great help for improving the medical services in their place which he said is a 5th-class municipality.
