LANDBANK expands support for Eastern Visayas growth sectors

LANDBANK strengthened its support for farmers, fishers, agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs), entrepreneurs, and students in Eastern Visayas through affordable financing, digital banking, and capacity-building initiatives rolled out in Tacloban City on 17 and 18 September 2026.

The activities featured the Bank’s flagship development programs for the agriculture and micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) sectors, alongside efforts to expand digital financial inclusion among students.

“At LANDBANK, we believe that every farmer, fisher, entrepreneur, and student deserves the opportunity to build a better future. By bringing financing, digital solutions, and capacity-building closer to communities, we help turn their hard work and aspirations into stronger livelihoods and lasting progress for Eastern Visayas,” said LANDBANK President and CEO Lynette V. Ortiz.

Supporting farmers and fishers

The Agrisenso Plus caravan gathered around 1,300 farmers, fishers, and ARBs from across the region. The program offers loans at a fixed interest rate of 3% per year for agricultural production, modernization, and expansion. It also provides simplified requirements, free life and credit life insurance, and technical and market support.

Agrisenso Plus borrower Mark Dominic Sablayan, 29-year-old founder of MDS Fishfarm, encouraged young people to pursue agriculture and agribusiness. “LANDBANK AGRISENSO Plus is a big help in supporting our local agriculture players. This is why I encourage our youth to continue pursuing agriculture and agribusiness, so we can sustain the industry, create more opportunities, and keep our local communities growing,” he said.

LANDBANK also provides training, mentoring, and financial education through LANDBANK ASCEND (Agri-Fishery Support through Capability Enhancement for Nationwide Development), to help farmers and fishers build resilient and sustainable enterprises.

Helping local enterprises grow

The Padayon Eastern Visayas MSME Fair connected around 250 entrepreneurs with financing, digital banking, and business development support.

Through the LIFTING MSMEs Lending Program and SULONG MSME Solution Suite, entrepreneurs gained access to financing and digital solutions for payments, collections, payroll, and other business transactions.

For Glen Morales, owner of Glen’s Turmeric and Food Products, the LIFTING MSMEs Lending Program has made financing more accessible. “Maraming salamat sa LANDBANK sa paghahatid sa amin ng LIFTING MSMEs Lending Program. Malaking tulong ito dahil mas napadali ang pag-a-apply ng loan at access sa kapital. Dahil sa suporta ng LANDBANK, mas kumpiyansa kaming mapapalago pa ang aming kabuhayan,” he said.

Expanding digital banking access

LANDBANK also held the 26th leg of its Cash-Lite Campus Program at Leyte Normal University (LNU), promoting digital financial education and convenient banking services for students, faculty members, personnel, and campus merchants.

“Sobrang dali lang mag-open ng LANDBANK account. Malaking tulong ang pagiging practical at convenient nito sa mga daily transactions namin bilang estudyante. Mas madali na rin ngayon ang pag-access namin sa banking services,” said LNU student Marieneil Dingle.

Through these initiatives, LANDBANK continues to widen access to financing, digital services, and capacity-building support, helping communities across Eastern Visayas build stronger livelihoods and pursue sustainable growth.
