LANDBANK backs recovery efforts in communities hit by Mindanao quake

As recovery efforts progress in areas affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Mindanao, LANDBANK continues to provide financial support, accessible banking services, and rehabilitation to help communities rebuild and restore livelihoods.

During the immediate aftermath, LANDBANK conducted relief operations in Malapatan, Maasim, and Glan on 24-25 June 2026, delivering 1,500 relief packs and 75 portable water filtration units to families in hard-hit areas. The initiative was funded by voluntary cash donations from more than 15,000 Bank employees nationwide under the Volunteerific Program, LANDBANK’s flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) employee volunteerism initiative.

The Bank also extended ₱3.4 million in financial assistance to 19 affected local government units (LGUs) to support their initial rapid disaster response, including relief distribution and emergency procurement.

Bringing banking services directly to isolated communities

To aid recovery efforts and ensure continued access to financial services, LANDBANK deployed a Mobile Branch and a Mobile ATM in Alabel and Glan in Sarangani, as well as in General Santos City, to bring essential banking services closer to affected residents. These units enabled cash withdrawals, fund transfers, and over-the-counter transactions, facilitating more than 10,800 transactions to date as local economies normalize.

At the height of the infrastructure disruptions, the Bank also coordinated with the Philippine Coast Guard to deliver cash supplies by sea to the municipality of Glan after a key bridge collapsed, which temporarily disrupted land access. This ensured that LGUs, businesses, and residents maintained access to funds for critical needs while land routes were being restored.

To further support uninterrupted financial access, LANDBANK’s digital channels—including the Mobile Banking App, iAccess, WeAccess, and Link.BizPortal—remain fully operational, while free withdrawals at 7-Eleven ATMs provide additional access points for clients in the region.

“As the affected areas transition from relief to full rehabilitation, LANDBANK’s focus is on sustaining the momentum of recovery. We are fully committed to partnering with local governments, farmers, fishers, and small businesses by providing the credit and financial relief necessary to completely rebuild livelihoods and local economies,” said LANDBANK President and CEO Lynette V. Ortiz.

Financing support to help communities rebuild

To drive long-term rehabilitation, LANDBANK is actively implementing financing and regulatory relief measures to assist affected borrowers and communities in rebuilding their livelihoods through the following programs:

· LANDBANK CARES PLUS Lending Program – Provides accessible financing for farmers, fishers, and enterprises to restore and rebuild their operations.

  • EasyCash for Emergencies – Offers emergency liquidity for credit cardholders by converting available credit limits into cash, payable in installments.

  • Electronic Salary Loan (eSL) – Grants government employees and payroll account holders access to salary and emergency loans through employer endorsement or branch application.

  • Pension and Emergency Relief (PeER) Loan Facility – Extends loans ranging from ₱20,000 to ₱100,000 at 10% annual interest to pensioners and qualified government employees with LANDBANK accounts.

  • Regulatory Relief Measures – Includes grace periods of up to six (6) months on loan payments, deferred obligations, and loan restructuring for borrowers in calamity-declared areas.

LANDBANK volunteers deliver relief packs and portable water filtration units to families in the earthquake-affected municipalities in Sarangani Province, helping address immediate needs for food and safe drinking water.

Residents from Sarangani and South Cotabato access cash and banking services through the LANDBANK Mobile Branch and ATM following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck parts of Mindanao.

LANDBANK employees, in coordination with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), deliver cash by sea to the municipality of Glan after the earthquake destroyed a bridge that cut off land access to the town.
