BAGUIO CITY(April 16, 2025) -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the United States are scheduled to launch joint military exercises in Cagayan province this June as part of the second phase of SALAKNIB and BALIKATAN 2025 (SABAK25).
The drills, according to organizers, seek to strengthen bilateral military cooperation through tactical coordination in operations such as ground convoy movements, air assault missions, and undersea maneuvers.
SABAK25 officials assured that all activities would be coordinated with local government units and relevant agencies. They will also implement traffic management measures to minimize disruptions and ensure public safety.
The Philippine and U.S. military launched SABAK 2025 last March 24, 2025 at Fort Magsaysay in Nueva Ecija.
The joint exercise involves 5,000 US and Filipino troops training across key locations to enhance combat readiness, joint operations, and external defense capabilities.
Troops have conducted Phase 1 from March 24 to April 11, while Phase 2 is set from May 19 to July 20 in Fort Bonifacio and areas under the 5th and 7th Infantry Divisions.
The joint drills are part of efforts to enhance defense readiness and support regional and national security objectives.
