Indian national face raps after getting caught with stolen motorcycle in Negros Oriental

BAGUIO CITY (March 4, 2025) -- An Indian is facing “anti-fencing law” charges after he was caught Tuesday morning keeping a stolen motorcycle owned by another Indian national in Tanjay City in Negros Oriental province.

According to Lt. Col. Wilbert B. Parilla, regional chief of the Regional Highway Patrol Unit 7, operatives of the Provincial Highway Patrol Team-Negros Oriental led by Executive Master Sergeant Aurelio L. Bodo caught 34 year old Jasveer Kumar keeping the gray colored Yamaha Mio Aerox model 2021 motorcycle, with plate number 878GTN, engine number G3P4E-0020062 and chassis number MH3SG6450M0010982, registered under 54 year old Jagtar Singh Bassi, also an Indian National, living at 814, Zone 3, Canazares St., Dumlog, Talisay City, Cebu.

Bassi, according to Lt. Col. Parilla, sought their assistance after he discovered his motorcycle was stolen while parked outside his house by a certain Jaswinder, also an Indian National, while he was in Puerto Princesa City in Palawan supervising his house construction wayback in October 23, 2024.

But on March 2, 2025, a certain Chamkaur Singh, also an Indian National, an assigned collector of Raj Karega Khalsa Lending Corp (RKKLC), contacted Bassi, the Corporate Manager of RKKLC, telling him he saw Jaswinder, who was a former collector of RKKLC, drove his motorcycle at the National Highway, from Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, enroute to Tanjay City.

Through intensive Anti-Carnapping and Intelligence-driven operation at Nono Limbaga Drive, Brgy. 7, Tanjay City, Negros Oriental, Bassi’s motorcycle was recovered from Kumar, whom Jaswinder sold the vehicle, said Lt. Col. Parilla.

Jaswinder, aside from facing violation of RA 10883 (the New Anti-Carnapping Law of 2016), has a pending Bench Warrant of Arrest for Qualified Theft with Crim. Case No. TCR-2024-13447 dated May 2, 2024 filed before RTC, Branch 65, City of Talisay, Cebu.

Parilla added that they have lodged a Motion for Issuance of Order to the court to furnish the Bureau of Immigration a copy of the Warrant of Arrest with Crim. Case No. TCR-2024-13447 for Qualified Theft of Jaswinder to support his deportation.

Time to Pass the Torch: Why Political Comebacks Are Not the Answer
By Malou Laxamana Pascual May 5, 2025
As the May 12 election nears, a quiet but growing movement is making itself heard in Baguio City. It does not come from the traditional campaign stage or the usual political dynasties. It is not funded by machinery or driven by name recall. It comes from the ground, from the young, and from those who are tired of the cycle. Tired of the same names, the same faces, the same families. Tired of watching opportunity slip away as public service is reduced to a personal brand.
