Father, son found dead with bullet, knife wounds along Kalinga-Abra road

(October 13, 2024)—Villagers discovered suspected extra-judicial execution victims, father and son Alex and Richard,17, at a grassy area beside the Abra-Kalinga road along Sitio Pasikad, Barangay Bonglo, Licuan-Baay in Abra Saturday morning (October 12, 2024).

Police initially found that both victims sustained gunshot wounds on their heads and bodies and knife wounds on their necks.

The cadavers were taken to Joces Funeral Homes in Tayum town for autopsy.

The victims, both from barangay Agtangao, Bangued, Abra’s capital town, are being linked to the local illegal drugs trade.

The duo’s house had reportedly been raided by authorities for illegal drugs in the past.

La Paz town mayor Joseph Sto Niño B. Bernos, also the national president of the League of Mayors in the Philippines in denouncing the dastardly act called on law enforcement authorities to get into the bottom of the unjust killing because “violence should have no place in Abra and anywhere in the country.” “EJK is a malady in a just society,” he stressed.

Tired of the same names, the same faces, the same families. Tired of watching opportunity slip away as public service is reduced to a personal brand.
