Education stakeholders hold “exnovation” talks

BAGUIO CITY (January 30, 2025) -- The education department in the Cordillera is holding its 2025 Education Technology or "EdTech" Congress, DepEd Assistant Regional Director Ronald Castillo said, themed "From innovation to exnovation".

 

Primarily addressing the challenges in the classroom, Castillo explained that, technology has become a key instrument in shaping how the teachers facilitate teaching and learning. "It's significance in redefining how knowledge is shared and consumed in the classroom is increasing and at the same time it opens new doors and offers boundless opportunities for learners and educators."

 

Castillo explained, Education Secretary Sonny Angara’s agenda is to raise education quality through upgraded curriculum, modernized assessment, digitally enabled schools and enhance the digital skills of the learners.  He said this is supported with the trust on digitalization for better transparency, accountability and empowerment as strategic levers for improved governance of basic education.

 

Consistent with this direction, the 2025 EdTech Congress shall explore the immense potential of technology in broadening access engaging learners in new ways and enhancing the overall effectiveness of education in DepEd Cordillera.  "We believe that with the proper use of education technology, we can create an education that is transformative and empowering," Castillo emphasized.

 

The congress is being spearheaded by the curriculum and learning division, human resource development division and information and communications unit of DepEd Cordillera.

 

Different methods or innovative use of educational technology by various schools in the region will be showcased during the two-day congress. “It will also be a venue where the department will recognize the incredible efforts of schools in developing digital literacy and leveraging technology to enhance learner performance,” Castillo added.
