La Trinidad, Benguet Councilor Belmer Elis said that they are expecting 20 candidates coming from the six provinces and two cities of the Cordillera.

The pageant will be held in Benguet coinciding with the celebration of the tourism week of La Trinidad town.

Elis who is the Chairman of the Committee on Tourism at the Sangguniang Bayan here said, the pre-pageant will be on Thursday (September 26, 2024) and the coronation on September 28, 2024.

The local legislator said that the event will give great opportunity to the Cordillera Region especially La Trinidad town to promote its tourist destinations.

The municipal government of La Trinidad recently launched its tourism week highlighting the rich culture and heritage of the people of the town coming also with a theme "Tourism and Peace".

On September 27, 2024, there will be a "Dance for Peace" featuring the traditional dances in the town.

Meanwhile, the Sangguniang Bayan of La Trinidad is seeking to institutionalize a traditional dance "Kinedaring" or "Kading" (dance of the spirits) as the official community dance of the town.

The "Tayaw ni Kading or Kinedaring" is a dance seeking for the blessings of the spirits of ancestors especially during town events.

Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) Richard Wacnisen is pushing for it.
