BTC Distributes Gasolina Vouchers Again to Drivers

BAGUIO CITY – The Baguio Tourism Council (BTC), led by Chairman Gladys Vergara, has once again distributed Gasolina Vouchers (Perks Card) to drivers as part of its commitment to supporting the city’s transportation sector.

In the latest distribution, Vergara, together with City Councilor aspirant Glenn Gaerlan, handed out Gasolina Vouchers to public utility jeepney (PUJ) and public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers in Purok 20, San Carlos Heights, Barangay Irisan. The Gasolina Voucher (Perks Card) is a program launched by BTC in November 2024 as an initiative to ease the financial burden of transport operators while strengthening partnerships with local businesses and gas stations.

Through this program, qualified drivers receive up to ₱3.00 per liter discount on diesel or gasoline from participating gas stations. In addition to fuel discounts, cardholders can also enjoy discounts on oil changes, lubricants, and other essential vehicle maintenance services.

The voucher specifically aims to assist PUJ and PUV drivers, including school and tourist vehicle operators, in reducing fuel expenses through BTC’s partner establishments. Vergara emphasized the importance of this initiative in sustaining the local transport sector, which plays a crucial role in Baguio’s tourism and economy.

"Supporting our drivers and operators is a top priority. Through initiatives like the BTC Gasolina Voucher, we aim to ease some of their operational costs while strengthening our partnerships with local businesses and gas stations," Vergara stated. BTC Tourism G9 Transportation Sector head Wilson Bumay-et Jr., who is also the Baguio Jeepney Federation President, played a key role in implementing the program. Since its launch, the program has already benefited over 450 drivers and operators, demonstrating its positive impact on the community.

BTC continues to expand its reach by visiting various barangays to ensure more transport workers can access and enjoy the program’s benefits. The BTC Gasolina Voucher is just one of many strategic programs introduced by BTC to enhance the city’s tourism experience while supporting the livelihood of those in the transport sector.

For more information on the BTC Gasolina Voucher and upcoming distributions, interested drivers and operators are encouraged to contact their local transport association or visit the BTC Office at the Visitors Information Center, Rose Garden, Burnham Park.

Time to Pass the Torch: Why Political Comebacks Are Not the Answer
By Malou Laxamana Pascual May 5, 2025
As the May 12 election nears, a quiet but growing movement is making itself heard in Baguio City. It does not come from the traditional campaign stage or the usual political dynasties. It is not funded by machinery or driven by name recall. It comes from the ground, from the young, and from those who are tired of the cycle. Tired of the same names, the same faces, the same families. Tired of watching opportunity slip away as public service is reduced to a personal brand.
