BCDA foists control over Camp John Hay

BAGUIO CITY (January 6, 2025)— State-run Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) foisted it has gained control over Camp John Hay, particularly The Manor, The Forest Lodge, Camp John Hay Golf Club, CAP Convention Center, Commander's Cottage, open spaces, and other areas.

This at the heels of the Supreme Court decision favoring the 2015 arbitral ruling re-instating the notice to lessee Camp John Hay Development Corp. (CJHDevCo) to vacate the 247-hectare Special Economic Zone.

The High Court’s ruling, which allows the recover of the leased property, the BCDA said, is a victory for the Filipino people, as it will open doors for high-impact investments that will provide more job opportunities, drive inclusive economic growth, and initiate a ripple effect that will benefit more people in the years to come.

“This victory is a win for the Filipino people as it paves the path for exciting investments and projects that will drive socioeconomic opportunities and protects the interests of all,” explained BCDA President and Chief Executive Officer Joshua M. Bingcang. “As we open new doors of opportunity, more businesses may reinvest their capital in Camp John Hay and build upon the workforce; all while ensuring that the environmental and cultural integrity of the area are preserved and protected.”

The latest order dated 03 January 2025, Branch 6 of the Baguio Regional Trial Court, upheld the Supreme Court ruling and junked CJH DevCo’s fresh attempt to prevent the full return of the Camp John Hay property, BCDA added. “This court order means all land and improvements in the property, whether directly held by CJH DevCo, its subsidiaries and/or affiliates or occupied/held by other individuals or parties claiming rights under them, must be turned over to the BCDA immediately,” said Bingcang.

BCDA assures the public that businesses will continue to operate and thrive in Camp John Hay while calling on all stakeholders to step forward, reach out, and work together to facilitate a seamless transition toward a better Camp John Hay.

BCDA urges all stakeholders affected by the Supreme Court decision to reach out to them.
