Baguio City – The city came alive with pride and tradition as officials, Ibaloy clans, and various communities gathered to celebrate the 16th Ibaloy Day. The event, held to honor the rich cultural heritage of the Ibaloy people, featured a vibrant parade and festivities that highlighted identity, inclusivity, and the enduring spirit of the indigenous community.

Among those who joined the celebration was Gladys Vergara, who expressed her admiration for the Ibaloy people’s deep-rooted traditions and contributions to Baguio’s history.

“Long live the culture and history of the Ibaloy! It was inspiring to see officials from Baguio and Benguet, Ibaloy clans, and different communities come together to celebrate our shared heritage.”

Vergara also extended her gratitude to Marica Carantes, a strong advocate for Ibaloy culture, for accompanying her throughout the parade despite the challenges.

“Your dedication to preserving and honoring our Ibaloy roots is truly admirable,” she said.

She also thanked her BTC family for joining the celebration and showing support for the Ibaloy community.

Notable figures in attendance included Glenn Gaerlan and Eric Kelly, who both actively participated in the festivities, further emphasizing the significance of the occasion in uniting people from various backgrounds.

The 16th Ibaloy Day served as a powerful reminder of the importance of preserving indigenous culture and fostering unity among diverse communities.

Tired of the same names, the same faces, the same families. Tired of watching opportunity slip away as public service is reduced to a personal brand.
