Baguio City Earns 10 Pearl Awards; Tourism Chair Vergara Eyes Top Honor Next Year
Baguio City — Baguio Tourism Chair Gladys Vergara recognized the contributions of Baguio’s tourism sectors and the local government in advancing the city’s tourism initiatives, following recent commendations presented to the Baguio Tourism Council and the City Government. These accolades were highlighted during the city’s regular flag-raising ceremony at Baguio City Hall.
Baguio City was awarded ten Pearl Awards at the 25th Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (ATOP) National Convention and Pearl Awards held in Koronadal City, Cotabato, on October 10, 2024. In a press briefing, Vergara expressed optimism that Baguio City is well-positioned to clinch the Championship Pearl Award in the coming year.
Vergara extended special gratitude to the Baguio Tourism Office, led by Engr. Alec Mapalo, and the local government for their unwavering support for the An Enchanting Baguio Christmas (AEBC), set to officially launch on November 28, 2024. She noted that AEBC, now in its fourth year, remains a self-sustaining Christmas event, this year themed to evoke a European atmosphere, with various chalets situated within Burnham Park’s Rose Garden.
